Policies and Procedures
Exam Scheduling
Scheduling exams to be administered by the Testing Center is done on a first-come, first-served basis. It is to your advantage to schedule and have exams approved at the beginning of the semester/term. It is easier to edit dates than to try and add new ones as the semester goes along and the Testing Center dates fill.
To schedule exam dates, follow these steps:
- Go to the Testing Center website and sign in.
- Go to the "Faculty" tab.
- Click on "Schedule/Edit Test Dates"and choose the correct semester at the far right of the screen. Click on the green bar labeled "request new test dates at the Provo Testing Center."
- Late fees are required for Fall and Winter Semesters, excepting finals week. The late fee period will automatically be populated based off of the dates/times you choose.
- Days with an exclamation point (!) mean you need to choose another date to close your exam. Green dates indicate low capacity, yellow dates are moderate. Red dates indicate the Testing Center is near capacity.
- Please remember that tests may not begin on a Saturday, and classes with more than 75 students may not end tests on a Saturday.
- After you have chosen your dates, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the appropriate "save" box.
Your test dates will now show up as "pending" in the status box. Once your test dates are cleared by the Testing Center Manager, the status will change to "approved." You can check for approval later in the day you make your choices, or the next morning. If there is a problem with your chosen dates, you will receive an email from the Testing Center.
Editing Test Dates
To edit or delete your test dates:
- Sign in at the Testing Center website.
- Go to the "Faculty" tab.
- Click on "Schedule/Edit Test Dates" and choose the correct semester at the far right of the screen.
- Locate your exam and click on the blue "Edit" button. Edit your dates as needed.
- If you decide not to give a previously scheduled exam, please delete it so space can be freed up for other classes. To do this, click on the red "delete" button.
Test Delivery
All paperwork accompanying tests is done online at the Testing Center website. To fill out the online paperwork, follow these steps:
- Sign in at the Testing Center website
- Go to the "Faculty" tab
- Click on "Test Delivery Information"
- Locate your exam and follow the "Setup Needed" link
- Follow the prompts making sure to type in and save the barcode. Your department secretary has barcodes, but you can also get one from the Testing Center office.
- If your test is being scored (fully or partially) by the Testing Center, click on the green "Create Answer Key" bar. You may enter test answers by clicking on each question individually, or by using the "Quick Key Insert" option. This option allows you to simply type in the correct answer and hit enter to quickly go through each exam question.
- When you finish entering in all the information, choose the green print bar.
- Bring this Test Delivery sheet with your exam by noon the business day before your test is set to begin.
Be aware that tests are due at the Testing Center by noon the business day before the exam is to begin (10:45a on Tues) . Hard copies of the exam are required; the Testing Center will not print your exams for you. Exams must each have a barcode, class code, and professor's name at the top of the first page of each exam. Final exams are due by noon on the second to last day of class. (Please see "Special Instructions for Final Exams")
Test Pick-up
Tests are available for pick up the next business day after 1:00pm. Photo ID is required for test pick up.
We have limited space at the Testing Center and cannot store exams for extended periods of time. All completed student bubblesheets and exam materials that are not scored by the Testing Center must be picked up two business days following the ending of the exam. Because students have up to 120 days after the last day of finals to challenge their grades, we must return these materials to the department (see Student Academic Grievance Policy). The Testing Center will not shred student exams.
Special Instructions for Final Exams
Scheduling for final exams will be done on a first-come, space-available basis and must meet the following criteria:
- Final exams must be delivered to our office by noon on the second to last day of class.
- Finals must be written so as not to exceed three hours.
- Classes with fewer than 60 students should plan to give the final exam in class. (This restriction does not apply to spring/summer terms)
- Final exams must be available through the entire finals week unless you have been approved otherwise. Call 2-6130 for questions.
Additionally, the final test will need to be prepared and printed as follows:

- The test must be labeled with the class name and teacher name.
- The test must contain a Testing Center barcode in the upper right corner.
- All copies of the test must be numbered on the upper right corner of the first page with a sequencial three digit copy number (001, 002, 003, etc.)

- Fill out a Batch Processing Request form here at the Testing Center office.
- Be aware that all student answer sheets must have either the student ID or netID coded in the identification box or the student will not receive a score.
