An answer key must be created after scheduling and setting up an exam at the Testing Center.
It is possible to key in multiple response questions.
Step One:
Sign in to the Testing Center website. Click the Faculty [1] menu and select Test Delivery Information [2].
Step Two:
Ensure that the correct semester is selected from the Year Term drop down menu, located in the top right.
Step Three:
Locate the correct course and exam. Click the exam title [1], located in the Test Setup column.
Step Four:
A dialog window appears. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Answer Key.
Step Five:
A dialog window appears. Enter the number of questions [1] that students will record on a Testing Center bubble sheet, and thus be scored by the Testing Center. Click Input Answers [2].
Step Six:
Enter a range of questions [1] and their point value [2]. Click apply [3].
Repeat this process for as many question ranges as needed.
In the example picture below, questions 1 - 5 have a point value of one and questions 6 - 10 have a point value of two. This bring the total points possible for the test to 15 [4].
Step Seven:
Click on a question number to set question settings.
Step Eight:
A dialog window appears.
Check the box next to Is Multiple Response.
Step Nine:
Set the correct responses by clicking on as many response options from the list of A/T through J as needed.
In the example picture below, A/T, C,D, and F are set as the correct responses. Thus, students would need to fill in those four options to receive credit for the question.
Step Ten (Optional):
The way the question is currently set up, there is nothing to dissuade students from filling in all of the response options, A-J, to receive full credit for the question. The Allows Partial Credit setting can be used to prevent this from happening.
If desired, check the box next to Allows Partial Credit so that it and Is Multiple Response are both enabled.
Step Eleven (Optional):
Assign all of the correct response options an equal portion of the total points possible for the question.
For example, if the question is worth one point and there are 4 correct response options, assign 0.25 points to each.
Step Twelve (Optional):
Assign a penalty to incorrect responses by entering negative values in the boxes beneath the incorrect response options.
In the example picture below, students would receive +0.25 for selecting a correct response option and -0.10 for selecting an incorrect one. This creates a penalty for filling in all of the response options in an attempt to get full credit.
Note: Students can receive negative points towards the total points possible but can never receive lower than a zero for the question overall.
Step Thirteen:
Click Close.
Step Fourteen:
Repeat this process for as many questions as needed.
An “M” [1] listed to the right of the question number signals that the question is multiple choice.
A “P” [1] listed to the right of the question number signals that the question is partial credit.
If needed, click on any of the response options, A-J, to quickly edit the point values.
Step Fifteen:
Click Save Answer Key.
Step Sixteen:
Click Next [1] or the “X” [2] to close out of the answer key dialog window.
Once the schedule has been approved and the answer key(s) set up, the test delivery sheet needs to be printed. Click here for more information about printing the test delivery sheet.
